Sarah Stookey, Ph.D.
Dr. Stookey received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Temple University. She has been working in the field of psychology for 29 years and obtained her first licensure 19 years ago. Her pre-doctoral internship was at Temple University Hospital where she worked with psychiatric inpatients and outpatients performing psychological evaluations as well as conducting therapy. In addition, she provided assessment and therapeutic services to medically compromised individuals with a range of problems including acquired brain injuries and chronic and terminal illness. She was an integrated part of the Heart Transplant team, providing assessment and therapeutic services to individuals waiting to receive a heart transplant as well as their families and continuing to support them in their recovery. Dr. Stookey has worked extensively in the field of geriatric psychology, providing assessment, individual, and group therapy to older adults in nursing homes, assisted living communities, and skilled nursing facilities.
Dr. Stookey is the former Internship Director for a not-for-profit agency where she worked for 10 years. She was responsible for the supervision and training of 50 doctoral-level interns, 16 post-doctoral residents, and numerous pre-doctoral practicum students. She has experience in working in forensic psychology, including providing services in a county prison and working with a diversionary program for individuals with mental health issues. She has also worked with individuals with intellectual developmental disorders, co-occurring substance use and psychiatric disorders, and victims of complex trauma. She is a former adjunct professor at four accredited universities where she taught courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
In addition to her current work conducting assessments at Oasis Psychological Services, Dr. Stookey is the West Valley manager of Behavioral Health Consultative Services for a large, not- for-profit health center. In this capacity, she oversees the provision of brief, solution focused interventions in outpatient medical settings.
At Oasis Psychological Services, Dr. Stookey conducts psychological evaluations for adults involved with the Department of Child Safety. She also conducts neuropsychological evaluations.
